Draft 2 - Singapore Flyer

I was joyous, looking forward to the Singapore Flyer. I went to look up information related to the flyer. IT was located at Marina Bay; it sits astride a three-storey Retail Terminal with an exciting array of retail and F&B choices. A central atrium opens out to a lush tropical rainforest, while an open-air theatre hosts live performances. The two hundred and ten meter long waterfront dining promenade will be adding to the buzz of sights, sounds and activities. It sounded so breath-taking that it thrilled me the thought of it.

The three-storey is constructed around the Singapore Flyer. I hardly saw the shop houses were opened, most probably due to the timing we went there which was too early. There are plenty of artificial trees planted around the middle of the basement floor to decorate the place, which in turns make the place looks more “greener” .There is a place for security check before entering the capsule to ensure no dangerous weapons were brought aboard. I finally managed to board the Singapore Flyer finally. It was the moment when the wheel turned to the mid-ways. I stared in wonderment. Marina barrage, Merlion Park and New Bridge were examples of places of interest that can be seen up in the Singapore Flyer. I could hardly believe my eyes; I managed to capture the view of Singapore from bird’s eye view.

The moment when I reached aboard the capsule of Singapore Flyer, I could felt the inertia of the capsule .In this case, physics was applied as I walked in the opposite direction of the capsule .The strong current of force opposed me when I was going in. When I looked around, I saw the big diameter of the wheel which could be calculated. The time taken for one spin to complete could be tabulated. The superb engineering feat of this magnificent structure would have plenty of time and manpower to build it. My expectations were met as it was a suitable outdoor classroom for conducing lesson which related to a lot of subjects.

During the ride in the capsule, some of the students were supposed to take a good watch at timing of the stopwatch which is used to time the time needed for one full turn of the wheel. Everyone started to become mischievous and put their worksheet and stopwatch away. Then, one by one, students rushed to the corners and took out either their cell phones or their digital cameras and started snapping photos. There was cacophony of students’ cheer that they managed to see a wide view of Singapore. The teacher-in-charge even also took photo of herself.

I felt the trip was exhilarating .Instead of using old classroom for teaching, places of interest could also be used for teaching purposes. The outdoor classroom provided student more knowledge that is probably beyond the capability of teacher to teach. There is no doubt that I strongly recommend it to others.

Draft 5 -Historical Narrative

The bloodshed of innocent, bodies of the dead and the misunderstanding which caused the tension to increase between the two races. Jeub was in his sixties .He felt unhappy for a long time. The refugee camp that he still stayed in was lack of proper hygiene. He could vividly remember the number of Tamil who survived the civil war.

Jeub and his mother were the only one that left in his family. His mother was the only parent left to fend and protect him. Lives were not so easy after all. The government were more in favors of the Sinhalese as mainly they were make up of Sinhalese too .They neglected the Tamils as they were being favored of during the British colony period, they were given more opportunities to work in the government with a better income than the Sinhalese .She had to find a job to ensure Jeub was well fended.

Jeub asked his mother politely, looking into her eyes with curiosity “Mummy, why you always looked gloomy?”

“You would not know,” heaving a sigh of hopelessness, she added, “life is not getting any better”

“And why is that so mummy?” Jeub questioned back his mum with curiosity filled up his mind.

“I have been finding for a single job high and low but not a single soul has employed me!”His mother replied frustratedly, slamming her fist on the table.
She was jobless for several months. Often, she had to beg from other people some money to buy food for him.

The Bill was passed by Parliament on 20 August 1948 and became law on 15 November 1948; just 285 days after Ceylon had gained independence from Britain. Only about 5,000 Indian Tamils qualified for citizenship. Jeub mum was one of the unlucky one. She was the first generations of the Indian Tamil and was being discriminated by those Sinhalese. She eventually managed to find a low income job despite the Ceylon Citizenship Act in 1948.

Jeub at that time, that is at an early age of 2. He was very obedient and wasn’t playful like any other people child. He knew that his mom had a hard time providing for him.

Years after, he was 25. He managed to get into good school and score pretty decent scores. He did not want to let his mom got disappointed about him .His mother wrinkled skin would often reminded him to do well in academic.

It was until the year 1972. The university admission criteria were changed. The points for Tamils were raised up for admission to university. More Sinhalese who are ineligible will have more opportunities to go in university. As for those Tamils who were once eligible for the university, they become unable to go into university. This resulted in much unhappiness among the Tamils against the biasness of Sinhalese. It led to the Tamils to form the Tamil United Liberation Front in 1976.

The Tamil United Liberation Front became the official opposition as result of the rout of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party The Tamil United Liberation Front 's success would lead to riots in which hundreds of Tamils were murdered by Sinhala mobs. Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, the Tamil United Liberation Front was frequently blamed by nationalist Sinhalese politicians for acts of violence committed by militant groups such as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam .

He was when around the age of 60 when the war between the Tamil Tigers and Sinhalese government came closer to an end, however the Sinhalese sought revenge and bullied the Tamil tigers after their leader were eliminated. Will the Tamil tigers rise again with new leaders and fought against the Sinhalese or will civil war end for good?

Draft 1 -Historical Narrative

Unforgettable

The breeze of the wind, chirping of the bird, sounds of waves washing against the shores. Such calmness within the country itself was long time never to be seen. The old crumpled wrinkles, cracked dry lips, and the smile which was longed seen. The sound of the old rocking chair could be heard away from the house. Jeub, who is at his sixties, his hatred had been washed away as time goes by. He could vividly remember the number of Tamil who survived the civil war.

Alternative Assignment -Career Choices Part 3 [Discussion]

I wanted to be program engineer in the first place to build programme like anivirus software to fight against worms, virus, wormhole and backdoors. Worms like Conflicker, which allows its creators to remotely install software on infected machines, most likely the worm will be used to create a botnet that will be rented out to criminals who want to send SPAM, steal IDs and direct users to online scams and phishing sites, are one big task to fight against which interest me alot. However, the job of accountant is related to my subject in school, the subject,Principle of Accounts. The POA teacher,Miss Ma,interest us about the job said it is quite well paid job. At the same time I cannot find any newspaper advertisement on the programme engineer. It is not related to language in any other ways as language is my weakest subject as well as science.I neither failed or pass my principle of account with distinction but that does not mean anything, I would strive even harder for principle of account as I could do courses of it in polytechnic.
